Terminal Facilities
Ranked as the 23rd busiest airport in Indonesia, Sultan Iskandar Muda
International Airport has been recognized as the World’s Best Airport for Halal
Travellers in the World Halal Tourism Awards 2016. The terminal features a
convenience store (Indomaret), food kiosks, shopping areas, Muslim prayer rooms,
and food counters in the arriving and departure halls.
Recent developments include the expansion of the runway to 3000 meters in 2009,
with a width of 45 meters, along with the construction of a new terminal
building to replace the old one. In 1999, the airport underwent development to
add a 2500-meter-long runway to accommodate A330 aircraft, particularly for
pilgrim departures.
