Air Inuit Baggage Allowance

The Air Inuit baggage allowances depend on the size and type of aircraft you will be traveling on.

Carry-On Baggage

Every aircraft in Air Inuit fleet is designed to accommodate carry-on baggage. However, whatever you bring aboard must conform to Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) restrictions governing size and weight as outlined below.

Aircraft Types Carry-on size restrictions Carry-on weight limit
Boeing 737, Dash-8 23cm x 37cm x 51cm
9" X 14.5" X 20" (inches)
5 kg (11 lb)
Twin Otter 23cm x 33cm x 33cm
9" X 13" X 13" (inches)
5 kg (11 lb)
King Air 20cm x 30cm x 33cm
8" X 12" X 13" (inches)
5 kg (11 lb)*

As of June 1st 2013, each passenger is only allowed one piece of carry-on baggage, which cannot exceed five (5) kg.

* Due to limited space on the King Air, carry-on baggage and personal items will be loaded at the back of the aircraft.

Carry-on baggage must fit in the sizing device at check-in, as well as under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment aboard the aircraft.

Free Baggage Allowances

For travel on Boeing 737, Dash-8 or Twin Otter, the maximum weight limit per passenger is 30 kg (66 lbs). For King Air passengers, the maximum weight limit per passenger is are 20 kg (44 lbs). If your itinerary includes a same-day transfer from one type of aircraft to another with different allowances, the 30 kg allowance will apply.

For transfers from any other carrier to Air Inuit, Air Inuit allowances will apply.

The maximum weight limit per single piece of baggage is 32 kilos. Any single piece of baggage over 32 kilos will NOT be accepted as checked baggage and must be shipped as cargo.

The maximum linear dimension per bag is 158 cm (62in).

Excess Baggage

Standardized excess baggage fee: $8.40 - $9.20/kg (taxes included), network wide. Excess baggage will be transported only if sufficient space is available and is limited to 40 kg unless pre-arranged and/or approved in advance. To make such arrangements, you may call Air Inuit customer service.

If baggage exceeds permissible limits, charges will be payable directly upon check-in.

If your itinerary includes connecting flights with other carriers, Air Inuit suggest you familiarize yourself with their baggage allowances to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Sporting Equipment

If you are planning to practice your favorite sport during your travels, here are a few guidelines to help you pack your equipment.

Because of varying shapes and sizes, sporting equipment must be checked in and will be subject to the same weight restrictions as your checked baggage included in the free baggage allowance.

NOTE: Air Inuit will not accept any lithium battery powered vehicles.
