JAL Mileage Bank

JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) is the frequent flyer program of Japan Airlines (JAL). It allows members to earn miles when they fly with JAL or its airline partners, as well as through various other activities like hotel stays, car rentals, shopping, and more.

These miles can be redeemed for rewards such as flights, upgrades, merchandise, or even hotel stays.

Here’s a breakdown of how it works:

Earning Miles

Flying with JAL or its partners: You earn miles based on the distance flown and the class of service you choose.

Partner airlines: JAL is part of the oneworld alliance, so you can also earn miles when flying with partner airlines like American Airlines, British Airways, and others.

Non-flight activities: You can accumulate miles through shopping with JAL partners, booking hotels, renting cars, or other partnerships JAL has for its members.

Redeeming Miles

Award Flights: You can redeem your miles for flights with JAL or its partner airlines. You can book flights in economy, business, or first class depending on how many miles you have.

Upgrades: You can use your miles to upgrade from economy class to business or first class.

Other Rewards: Aside from flights, JMB members can redeem their miles for hotel stays, products, and even experiences through JAL’s partners and the JAL Mileage Bank online store.

Membership Tiers

JMB has multiple membership levels, such as Crystal, Sapphire, JGC (JAL Global Club), and Diamond. Each level offers increasing benefits like priority check-in, extra baggage allowance, and access to lounges. To reach higher tiers, members must earn a certain amount of miles or take a minimum number of flights within a given time frame.

JMB Family Account

If you have family members who are also JAL Mileage Bank members, you can combine miles through a family account system. This allows you to pool miles together for a collective redemption.

Expiration of Miles

JMB miles generally expire 3 years after they are earned, but if you actively use the program (earn or redeem miles), your expiration date can be extended.
