Young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be Unaccompanied Minors (UM). Like most airlines, Swiss International Air Lines provide a service to assist these children from their point of departure to their final destination.

Children under 5 years of age may not fly unaccompanied. Children between the ages of 5 and 11 may only travel unaccompanied if you book the service for unaccompanied minors (UM service) or if accompanied by someone who is at least 12 years of age.

If desired, the service may also be booked for children aged between 12 and 17. All airlines reserve the right to request documented proof of age of any child.

The prices for the UM service apply for flights that are operated by SWISS. The tariff is charged per child and sector. The outbound and return flights are counted as two separate flights.

The tariffs:

Within Switzerland - EUR 60 / USD 90 / CHF 70
Within Europe - EUR 60 / USD 90 / CHF 70
Intercontinental - EUR 100 / USD 150 / CHF 120

Examples:

The charge for one child from Geneva-Zurich-Athens will be CHF 140 (CHF 70 within Switzerland + CHF 70 within Europe)

The charge for one child from Paris–Zurich–New York will be CHF 190 (CHF 70 CHF within Europe + CHF 120 intercontinental)

The UM service for children travelling alone is only available through Service Center. Book the ticket and the UM service by phone. Please call Swiss International Air Lines Reservation & Ticketing Office.
