Massawa International
Airport (IATA: MSW, ICAO: HHMS) is an airport in Massawa, a major
city in the Northern Red Sea region of Eritrea.
The Massawa International Airport is a large establishment. It is
one of Eritrea's major airports. In the colonial period in Italian
Eritrea, a 1,970 km railway line was established between
Massawa-Djibouti-Berbera-Galadi-Mogadishu.
As of 2014, the airport only accommodates domestic flights since
the companies that formed it do not have international licenses.
There are no active airlines operating from Massawa. Eritrean Air
Force still uses the airport as one of their three air bases.
The Airport is at an elevation of 206 ft (63 m) above mean sea
level. It has one runway designated 07/25 with an asphalt surface
with measuring 11,483 ft (3,500 m) in length.
