Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport

Abdul Rachman Saleh Airport (IATA: MLG, ICAO: WARA, previously WIAS) serves
Malang, the second-largest city in Indonesia's East Java province.
The airport is named in honor of Abdoel Rachman Saleh, an Indonesian pilot and
physiologist whose aircraft was downed by the Dutch during the Indonesian
National Revolution as it approached Maguwo Airfield (currently Adisucipto
International Airport) in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. The airport was
temporarily closed in October 2009 due to significant runway damage but reopened
after repairs were completed.
Terminal Facilities
The new terminal, located at the southern end of the runway, was inaugurated on
30 December 2011, replacing the old terminal used by the Indonesian Air Force.
The runway was extended to 2,300 meters in late 2012.
The airport is managed and operated by the Government of East Java Province.
