Datah Dawai Airport
Datah Dawai Airport (IATA: DTD, ICAO: WALJ) is located in Long Lunuk, Long
Pahangai, Mahakam Ulu Regency, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It stands as the sole
airport in Mahakam Ulu, providing vital air services to the area. Positioned
near the Kapuas River, the longest river in Borneo and Indonesia, the airport is
enveloped by lush green forests and towering trees.
Operating without a radio control tower, Datah Dawai Airport exclusively manages
pioneer flights. Oversight of the airport falls under the jurisdiction of the
local government of Mahakam Ulu Regency, primarily overseen by the Local
People's Representative.
Infrastructure enhancements near the airport were recently completed,
facilitated by the local government with assistance from the Indonesian National
Army, under Operation Bhakti Kartika Jaya. The Army also constructed a
connecting road from Long Bagun, the capital of Mahakam Ulu Regency, to the
airport. By the conclusion of 2015, the upgrades were finalized, enabling the
landing of aircraft as sizable as the Lockheed Hercules C-130 and ATR-72.
Featuring one paved runway designated 02/20, the airport's landing strip spans
750 meters (2,461 feet) in length.
Susi Air has 1 daily flight from here to Samarinda, for a total of 12 seats
daily.
