Mathilda Batlayeri Airport, also known as Bandar Udara Mathilda Batlayeri, with IATA code SXK and ICAO code WAPS, is situated in Saumlaki, Tanimbar Islands, Western Southeast Maluku Regency, Maluku, Indonesia.

This airport superseded the former Olilit Airport located south, which has since been abandoned. It commemorates Mathilda Batlayeri, a local heroine from the Tanimbar Islands who lost her life in 1953 while battling the Darul Islam rebel movement in South Kalimantan.

Terminal Facilities

The newly constructed terminal boasts comfortable arrival and departure halls. Outside the terminal, there are designated taxi stands and waiting areas.

Technical Specifications

Mathilda Batlayeri Airport is positioned at an elevation of 125 meters (410 feet) above mean sea level. Presently, it features a single taxiway measuring 110 meters by 15 meters and an apron spanning 152 meters by 75 meters. The current terminal occupies an area of 1,440 square meters. Expansion plans include enlarging the terminal to 4,000 square meters initially, and subsequently to 7,000 square meters. Additionally, the apron and taxiway will be widened to accommodate larger aircraft.

As of now, the airport can only handle aircraft up to the ATR-72 due to the runway's length of 1,641 meters. However, there are plans to extend the runway to 2,000 meters by 2016, with further extension to 2,500 meters in subsequent phases. The runway will also be widened from 30 meters to 45 meters, facilitating the accommodation of larger aircraft such as the Boeing 737, Fokker 100, and Airbus A320.
