On May 1, 2016, a new terminal featuring two aerobridges was inaugurated. This airport serves as an alternative entry point for flights to northern Indonesia. The new terminal, which has elevated Djalaluddin Airport to a first-class status in Eastern Indonesia alongside Sam Ratulangi International Airport and Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, is now operational.

Terminal Facilities

The new terminal, spanning nearly 12,000m² over two floors, can accommodate 2,500 passengers, replacing the old terminal which could hold only 250 passengers. The ground floor is designated for check-ins, baggage drop-off and claim, and includes public and employee areas. The second floor houses the waiting area, additional public and employee areas.

The terminal includes mosques on both floors, lactation rooms, escalators, elevators, restrooms, and wheelchairs for passengers with illnesses or disabilities. There are also two medium-sized lounges, a spacious smoking room, and four x-ray units (three for passengers and one for freight).

The old terminal will now be used for regular Hajj embarkations.

The airport is owned and operated by the Ministry of Transportation of Indonesia.
