Redang Airport
Redang Airport (IATA: RDN, ICAO: WMPR) is situated on Redang Island (Pulau
Redang), one of the largest islands off the east coast of Malaysia. The airport
underwent a brief closure in 2009 for runway expansion, reopening on April 16,
2009, following facility upgrades.
Featuring one tarmac surface runway, aligned 02/20, with a length of 3084 feet
(940 meters) and an elevation of 10 feet (3 meters) above sea level, the airport
is managed and operated by Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd.
Berjaya Air previously provided charter services, offering direct flights
from
Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (Subang Airport)
and Changi Airport Budget
Terminal (Singapore) to Redang Airport. However, the service has since been
suspended.
The airport serves as the primary tourism gateway for visitors seeking to
explore one of the most beautiful and tranquil beaches on the east coast of
Malaysia.
