Excess Baggage Fees
Airlines are under financial pressure to offset the cost of rising fuel prices.
Many of the airlines are now charging excess baggage fees for checking one or
more piece of luggage and some are even charging for carry-ons.
All airlines have checked luggage fee structures for oversize and overweight
baggage and these fees are charged in addition to the initial fee for checking
the bag. Specific airline regulations can be found by clicking on the baggage
policy links above. For most airlines, bags over 50 pounds (23 Kgs) are subject
to additional fees which start around $50.
Many airlines have additional fees for checking sports equipment such as skis,
golf bags, and bikes. Also, International flights typically have even higher
fees and the prices above are for domestic.
Instead of paying to haul luggage to the airport, wait in line to check bags and
wait at baggage claim, use luggage forward services to ship your bags directly
to your final destination to get more time to explore while cutting your airport
time in half.
