San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is a zoo in Balboa Park, San Diego, California, housing over 3,700 animals of more than 650 species and subspecies. Its parent organization, San Diego Zoo Global, is one of the largest zoological membership associations in the world.

It is privately moderated by the nonprofit Zoological Society of San Diego on 100 acres (40 ha) of Balboa Park leased from the City of San Diego, and ownership of all animals, equipment and other assets rests with the City of San Diego.

Getting There

The San Diego Zoo is located just north of downtown San Diego, California. Here are some possible ways to get there:

By car: You can reach the San Diego Zoo by car via Interstate 5 or Highway 163. There is a parking lot located near the zoo for visitors, as well as street parking in the surrounding areas.

By public transportation: You can also reach the San Diego Zoo by taking public transportation. The zoo is located near several bus stops, including routes 7, 215, and 955.

By bike or on foot: If you're staying nearby, you can easily walk or bike to the San Diego Zoo. There are multiple bike racks located throughout Balboa Park for visitors.
