Winterthur Museum
The museum is the former home of the Dupont family and contains one of the
finest collections of Americana to be found anywhere. The buildings and grounds
were designed by the DuPonts to look like an English country estate.
Winterthur was the former home of Henry Francis du Pont (1880-1969), a renowned
antiques collector and horticulturist.
The museum is dedicated to preserving and displaying American art and antiques,
especially those from 1640 to 1860.
Winterthur is situated on 979 acres (4 km2), with 60 acres (0.2 km2) of
naturalistic garden.

Here are some ways to get there:
By car: Winterthur Museum is approximately 8 miles northwest of downtown
Wilmington, Delaware. From Wilmington, take I-95 south to exit 7B (Delaware
Route 52 North). Follow Route 52 North for approximately 5 miles, then turn left
onto Winterthur Road. The museum entrance will be on your right. There is free
on-site parking available.
By public transportation: There is no direct public transportation to Winterthur
Museum. However, visitors can take a train or bus to Wilmington, then take a
taxi or ride-sharing service (such as Uber or Lyft) to the museum.
By organized tour: There are several organized tours available that include
