Stranahan House
Stranahan House was built in 1901 and is considered to be the oldest surviving
structure in Broward County. The house is open for tours and events, and
visitors can learn about the history of Fort Lauderdale and the Stranahan
family, who were early pioneers in the area.
Build by the founder of the city, the Stranahan House has served as a trading
post, town hall, post office and bank. It has been restored to its 1913
condition as an example of Florida vernacular architecture in a tropical
wilderness setting.
The museum also features exhibits on Seminole culture and the natural
environment of the region.
