Submarine NW Eifuku volcano located north from Farallon de Pajaro. A unique aggregation of Bathymodiolus mussels. These 18 cm long molluscs cover the rocks densely - no ground is seen behind this unique aggregation of mussels.

Getting There

It is not possible to travel to the NW Eifuku Mussel Mounds by public transportation as they are located in the ocean floor, about 50 kilometers northeast of Minami Iwo Jima, which is an uninhabited island. The only way to reach the site is by boat or research vessel.
