Oklahoma City National Memorial
Taking up 3.3 acres, the Oklahoma City National Memorial is the largest memorial
of its kind in the United States. It was built in memory of those who died in
the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building.
The memorial consists of several different sections: the Gates of Time, a
reflecting pool, the Field of Empty Chairs, the Survivors' Chapel, The Survivor
Tree, The Memorial Fence, Rescuers' Orchard, and the Children's Area.
Just outside of the formal memorial are a statue "And Jesus Wept," the Journal
Record Building, which houses the memorial's museum, and the Alfred P. Murrah
Federal Building Plaza.
