The South Carolina State House is the building housing the government of the U.S. state of South Carolina. The building houses General Assembly and the offices of the Governor.

Until 1971, it also housed the Supreme Court.

Getting There

The South Carolina State House is located in downtown Columbia, and there are several public transportation options available to get there.

By Bus: The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (CMRTA) operates several bus routes that stop near the State House, including routes 1, 4, 6, 11, and 21.

By Train: There is no direct train service to Columbia, but Amtrak offers service to several nearby cities, including Camden, South Carolina, and Charlotte, North Carolina. From there, you can take a connecting bus or taxi to reach the State House.

By Car: If you are driving to the State House, there are several parking garages and lots located nearby, including the Taylor Street Garage, the Sumter Street Garage, and the Lady Street Garage. Street parking is also available, but be sure to check the posted signs for time restrictions and other rules.
