A visa is not required to transit through Moldova providing that they do not intend to leave the international transit area. In all these cases, you enter the Schengen Area, and, unless you are exempt from short-stay visa requirements, you must apply in advance for an entry and stay visa in order to transit through Moldova.

As a foreign national, you do not enter the Schengen Area. In principle, you are not subject to entry visa requirements, with some exceptions. Certain nationalities are subject to visa requirements to transit through an airport in Moldova (Airport Transit Visa or ATV).

May 5, 2014, the Government, in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova as well as with the support of the Centre for Electronic Governance, launched the e-Visa service – it is the first system allowing applicants to apply for an entry visa to the Republic of Moldova online.

Currently, citizens of 126 countries are obliged to hold a visa for the entry, exit or transit through the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
