Travellers to Kuwait must obtain a visa from one of the Kuwaiti diplomatic missions overseas unless they come from one of the visa exempt countries or eligible for visa-free entry.

A valid passport or travel documents is required for entering Kuwait. Citizens from some countries or territories, however, are eligible for visa-free travel with only their National ID Cards in lieu of their passports. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.

Holders of passports of all European Union citizens and the following 52 jurisdictions may obtain a visa valid for 3 months on arrival to Kuwait if arriving by air or they may obtain an eVisa before arrival:

• Brunei
• Cambodia
• Canada
• Georgia
• Hong Kong

• Iceland
• Japan
• Laos
• Liechtenstein
• Malaysia
• Monaco
• New Zealand
• Norway

• San Marino

• Switzerland
• Turkey
• United States
• Vatican City

Visa can also be obtained on arrival and it is valid for one month for those holding a confirmation from a transporting carrier and are travelling for tourism purposes. Visitors arriving by sea or land must obtain visa in advance.

Nationals of the following countries are do not require a visa to visit Kuwait and may use their National ID Cards to enter the country:

• Bahrain
• Oman
• Qatar
• Saudi Arabia
• United Arab Emirates

Entry and transit is refused to Israel Israeli citizens.
