Flight Cancellations by Passengers
Passengers can cancel their bookings; however, cancellation fees may apply
depending on the fare class and the timing of the cancellation.
Refund eligibility and the amount depend on the fare conditions stated at the
time of ticket purchase.
Non-refundable tickets may only allow for the refund of certain taxes and fees,
if applicable.
Flight Cancellations by the Airline
If South African Airways (SAA) cancels a flight, passengers are entitled to
either:
► A full refund of the ticket price, or
► Rebooking on the next available flight at no additional cost.
Compensation for additional expenses (such as meals or accommodations) may be
offered in certain circumstances.
Refund Process
Refund requests can typically be made through SAA's online refund application
form.
Passengers must provide their ticket details, proof of payment, and
identification when requesting a refund.
Refunds are processed in the original form of payment and may take up to 60
working days to be completed.
Additional Notes
For tickets purchased through a travel agent or online travel agency, passengers
should contact the respective agent to initiate the refund process. The agent
will then submit the refund application to SAA on behalf of the customer.
Certain promotional fares and group bookings may have different cancellation and
refund terms.
