South African Airways (SAA) is the state-owned flag carrier airline of South
Africa. Headquartered in Airways Park at
O.R Tambo International Airport, the airline operates a hub-and-spoke
network.
As of September 2025, SAA operates flights to 17 destinations across 12 countries. The airline serves 4 domestic cities and 13 international destinations, from its base at O.R Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.

The airline has a strong presence in Southern Africa. Within South Africa, SAA operates to four cities, however the airline has an extensive domestic and regional network through its affiliate partners such as its LCC Mango Airlines, Airlink, and South African Express.
Voyager is the frequent-flyer program of South African Airways. Apart from South
African Airlink, South African Express and Eswatini Airlink, which have an
alliance with SAA, the program also partners 32 other airlines, along with many
more businesses.
The carrier joined Star
Alliance in April 2006, making it the first African carrier to sign with one
of the three airline alliances.
