ExpressJet Baggage Allowance

ExpressJet Airlines began its first commercial flying mission on Sept. 30, 2021 – exactly one year to the day since its last flight as a United Express carrier for United Airlines.

Some important baggage check-in information is summarized below:

Personal items

Guests may bring one personal item onboard the aircraft for no additional charge. These include a purse, briefcase, small backpack, camera case, or laptop bag and must be able to fit under the seat in front you. The maximum dimensions of a personal item are 14” L x 9” W x 9.5” H (35 cm x 22 cm x 24cm)

In addition to a personal item, guests may carry onboard for no additional charge a coast, jacket, and/or umbrella, as well as food or drink for consumption during the flight. Special items such as strollers, wheelchairs, child safety seats, or assistive devices may be carried onboard and are not counted toward the personal item limit.

Gate-Check Bags

Because of limited overhead storage space, larger items that might typically be considered “carry-on” will be gate checked. These items will be specially tagged and collected planeside as you board. On arrival, they be returned within 5 minutes of deplaning either on the ramp or in jet bridge.

The Gate-Check Bag must be smaller than 22” L x 14"W x 9”H (56 cm x 35 cm x 22 cm) and weigh not more than 30 pounds (15 kilograms). Examples of a Gate-Check Bag include a roller bag, garment bag, large backpack, tote bag. A maximum of one Gate-Check Bag per customer is permitted.

Checked Baggage

Guest may only check baggage for flights on which they are traveling and after payment of applicable charges.

Each checked bag must have a current identification tag or label with the guest’s name, address and telephone number. This will help to expedite the return of misplaced bags.

Each checked Bag can weigh up to 50 pounds (22 kilograms) and measure up to 62 inches (157 cm) in Maximum Outside Linear Dimensions. Baggage that exceeds these limits will be subject to additional charges outlined below.

Sporting Equipment

Golf bags and ski equipment will be accepted as checked baggage without imposition of oversize and overweight baggage fees. For more information on acceptance of sporting equipment, please check with Call Center directly.

Oversize and Overweight Baggage

Baggage weighing more than 50 pounds, but less than 71 pounds will be accepted upon payment of the applicable charge. Baggage weighing more than 70 pounds will not be accepted, except for wheelchairs and other mobility/assistive devices.

Baggage with outside linear dimensions exceeding 62 inches (157 cm) will be accepted upon payment of the applicable charge. If the bag is really big, give us a call to see if it will be able to fit through the baggage hold door.

In all cases, oversize and overweight baggage travel on a space-available basis even when charges have been paid. As the flights are generally “less than daily”, ExpressJet  recommend that guests ground ship such items ahead of time whenever possible.
