The city erected the statue because the destruction of the cotton crop led to agricultural diversity and more prosperity than had ever come from cotton alone. It is said to be the only statue to an insect pest in the world.

The Boll Weevil Monument is located in downtown Enterprise, Alabama, about 100 miles southeast of Montgomery, the state capital. Here are some ways to get to the monument from the city center:

By Car: You can drive to the monument from the city center by taking US-231 S for approximately 90 miles. Once you reach Enterprise, turn right onto W Lee St and then turn left onto N Main St. The monument is located at the intersection of N Main St and W College St. There is free parking available nearby.
