Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport
Birmingham–Shuttlesworth International Airport (IATA: BHM, ICAO: KBHM, FAA LID:
BHM), formerly Birmingham Municipal Airport and later Birmingham International
Airport, is a joint civil-military airport serving the city of Birmingham,
Alabama and its metropolitan area, including Tuscaloosa, in the United States.
The airport was renamed in July 2008 after Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth. It is
located in Jefferson County, five miles northeast of downtown Birmingham, near
the interchange of Interstates 20 and 59, and accessible via I-459 & I-65.
The airfield can handle all aircraft types. The main runway is 12,007 feet
(3,660 m) long. The secondary runway is 7,099 feet (2,164 m) long. A Category II
ILS allows operations in visibility as low as a quarter-mile.
Birmingham Shuttlesworth Airport is served by many major airlines offering
direct flights numerous U.S. cities with convenient connections.
The Airport offers multiple parking options for passengers. The parking deck,
located directly adjacent to the terminal, features both hourly and daily
parking accommodations. The Economy Lot offers the most affordable parking rates
for extended travel and features complimentary shuttle service to the terminal.
Finally, valet parking services are located curbside on the upper level of the
terminal.
Hourly Parking: $1.00 per hour with a maximum of $24 per day
For Hourly parking, follow the signs to the entrance ramp of the parking deck,
and proceed to level 3 to park. Hourly parking is intended for anyone parking
less than 4 hours at the airport.
Daily Parking: $1.00 per hour with a maximum of $12.00 per day
For Daily parking, follow the signs to the entrance ramp of the parking deck,
and proceed to level 2 or levels 4 through 7. Daily parking is intended for
anyone parking more than 4 hours at the airport.
Airport Economy Parking: $1 per hour with a maximum of $10.00 per day
The Economy Lot is intended for passenger parking their vehicles for an extended
amount of time.
The Economy Lot is located on Airline Drive near the terminal area. Turn right
off of Messer Airport Highway at University Avenue. Turn left onto Airline
Drive.
