Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park is located in northern Arizona, United States. The
Grand Canyon was created by the Colorado River cutting a channel into the
surrounding plateau over a period of about 6 million years.
The canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, ranges in width from 4 to 18 miles (0.4
to 24 kilometers), and attains a depth of more than a mile (1.6 km).
Grand Canyon National Park is one of the world's premier natural attractions,
attracting about five million visitors per year.

Getting There
The park has two main entrances: the South Rim Entrance and the North Rim
Entrance.
The South Rim Entrance is open year-round and is the more popular entrance. It
is located about 60 miles north of the city of Williams, Arizona, and about 80
miles northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona. The nearest major airport to the South
Rim Entrance is
Phoenix
Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), which is approximately 230 miles
south of the park. There are also smaller airports in Flagstaff and in nearby
Grand Canyon Village.
The North Rim Entrance is closed during the winter months and is only open from
mid-May to mid-October. It is located about 30 miles south of Jacob Lake,
Arizona, and about 80 miles southwest of Kanab, Utah. The nearest major airport
to the North Rim Entrance is

International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is approximately 270
miles southwest of the park. There are also smaller airports in St. George,
Utah, and in Page, Arizona, which are both within 150 miles of the park.
