North Carolina Capital Building
The North Carolina State Capitol is the former seat of the legislature of the
U.S. state of North Carolina. Currently housing the offices of the Governor of
North Carolina.
The Capitol housed the entire state government until 1888, and the North
Carolina General Assembly met in the capitol building until 1963 when the
legislature relocated to its current location in the North Carolina State
Legislative Building.

Getting There
The North Carolina State Capitol is located in downtown Raleigh and is
accessible by public transportation. The following bus routes of the GoRaleigh
public transportation system have stops near the Capitol:
Route 1: Capital Boulevard (stops on Salisbury St. and Edenton St.)
Route 2: Falls of Neuse Road (stops on Salisbury St. and Edenton St.)
Route 4: Rex Hospital (stops on Salisbury St. and Edenton St.)
Route 11: Avent Ferry (stops on Wilmington St.)
Additionally, the Raleigh Union Station, which serves Amtrak trains and
GoRaleigh buses, is about a 10-minute walk from the State Capitol.
