terms.
Starting with the 2002 election, each legislator represents a single-member
House or Senatorial district; prior to 2002, some districts elected multiple
legislators.
The building and furnishings cost $5.5 million, or $1.24 for each citizen of
North Carolina. Construction required 10,500 cubic yards (8,000 m3) of concrete,
145,000 masonry blocks, and 192,000 square feet (17,800 m2) of terrazzo.

Getting There
The North Carolina General Assembly is located in downtown Raleigh, North
Carolina. The most convenient way to get there by public transportation is by
taking the R-Line, a free bus service that circulates downtown Raleigh. You can
board the R-Line at any of the designated stops and ride to the stop closest to
the General Assembly. The closest R-Line stops to the General Assembly are the
Jones St at Wilmington St stop and the Salisbury St at Morgan St stop. From
either stop, it is just a short walk to the General Assembly.
