Douglas-Charles Airport

Douglas-Charles Airport, formerly known as Melville Hall Airport, is the main
international gateway to Dominica. The airport features a terminal that provides
basic services such as check-in counters, a waiting area, and a small snack bar.
Boarding is done via stairs from the tarmac as there are no jet bridges. Limited
duty-free shopping is also available.
Airlines operating from the airport include InterCaribbean Airways, LIAT,
Caribbean Airlines, and Air Antilles. These carriers offer regional connections
to nearby islands like Barbados, Antigua, and Saint Lucia, with international
links through regional hubs.
Public transportation options include readily available taxis outside the
terminal, providing service to various destinations. There are also local car
rental agencies for those wishing to explore the island independently, and
shuttle services are available for transport to hotels. The airport is
approximately 45 minutes to an hour’s drive from the capital, Roseau, so advance
transportation planning is recommended.
