Tribhuvan International Airport

Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) is Nepal’s only international airport,
located in the capital city, Kathmandu. It serves as the primary gateway for
travelers to and from the country.
The airport offers basic facilities, including several check-in counters,
immigration, and customs services. There are duty-free shops, a few
restaurants, and lounges for passengers in both the international and
domestic terminals. The airport has recently undergone upgrades to improve
passenger services, but it remains somewhat small and crowded during peak
times.
Airlines operating from Tribhuvan International Airport include
Nepal Airlines,
Qatar Airways,
Turkish Airlines,
Emirates, and several
regional carriers, connecting Kathmandu to cities across Asia, the Middle
East, and Europe. TIA also handles domestic flights to various parts of
Nepal, including popular tourist destinations like Pokhara and Lukla.
Public transportation options are limited. Taxis are the primary mode of
transport to and from the airport, and prepaid taxi services are available
at fixed rates. Public buses run near the airport, but many travelers opt
for private transfers or hotel-arranged transportation due to convenience.
The airport is located around 6 kilometers from Kathmandu's city center,
making it relatively easy to access.
