King Abdulaziz International Airport

King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED), located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is
a major gateway to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Opened in 1981, it is
one of the busiest airports in the Middle East, particularly during the Hajj and
Umrah seasons. The airport recently underwent significant expansion with the
opening of the new Terminal 1, which offers modern facilities, including a vast
duty-free shopping area, numerous dining options, prayer rooms, and luxury
lounges.
Additionally, there is a dedicated Hajj Terminal, designed specifically to
handle the influx of pilgrims during the Hajj season, capable of accommodating
up to 80,000 passengers at a time.
The airport is a hub for Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) and Flyadeal, and it
serves many other international carriers such as
Emirates, British Airways,
Turkish Airlines, and EgyptAir, providing connections to destinations across
Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America.
Public transportation options include taxis, which are readily available outside
the terminals, as well as ride-hailing services like Uber and Careem. The
airport is connected to Jeddah's city center and other regions by a network of
highways, and ample parking facilities are available, catering to both
short-term and long-term parking needs.
