King Khalid International Airport

King Khalid International Airport (RUH), located in Riyadh, the capital city of
Saudi Arabia, is one of the main aviation hubs in the region. Opened in 1983,
the airport features five passenger terminals, with Terminals 1, 2, and 5 being
primarily used for international and domestic flights, while Terminal 4 remains
unused, and Terminal 3 is undergoing renovation. The airport boasts modern
amenities, including a wide range of retail outlets, duty-free shopping,
numerous dining options, and spacious lounges. For spiritual needs, there is a
large mosque on the premises that can accommodate up to 5,000 worshippers.
The airport serves as a hub for Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) and Flynas,
offering a wide array of flights to destinations across the Middle East, Asia,
Europe, Africa, and North America. Other major airlines operating at King Khalid
International include Emirates,
Qatar Airways,
British Airways, Lufthansa, and Air France, providing extensive international
connectivity.
Public transportation options include taxis, readily available at designated
ranks outside the terminals, and ride-hailing services like Uber and Careem,
which are popular choices for passengers. Additionally, the airport is connected
to Riyadh’s city center by a network of highways, and a future metro line
extension will further enhance connectivity. Ample parking facilities cater to
both short-term and long-term needs, providing convenience for travelers.
